NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Payoneer, an industry leading global payments company, announced today it has donated its services to Cantor Fitzgerald, BGC Partners and the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund as they support victims of the May 20, 2013 tornado in Moore, Oklahoma that displaced thousands of people and destroyed more than 1,100 homes. The EF5 category tornado that struck Moore and adjacent towns leveled an elementary school and left 23 dead and hundreds injured, including more than 70 children. The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund is providing support in the form of a $1,000 Payoneer Prepaid Debit Card to each family who had a child in the Moore Public School district at the time of the May 20 tornado and whose home was damaged or destroyed.
“We are proud to support Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund’s effort to help ease some of the pressing financial needs of those families most impacted by the storm.”
Payoneer is supporting the effort by covering all logistical costs related to the card program, ensuring 100% of funds are immediately available to those receiving the cards. The non-reloadable Prepaid Debit Cards can be used to withdraw cash, pay bills or make purchases. The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund will distribute the cards in Moore on September 23.
Howard W. Lutnick, Chairman and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. and BGC Partners, Inc., said, “On behalf of the partners and employees of Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC, our prayers are with Moore’s families as they rebuild their lives and homes. We wanted to do what we could to help families whose world changed overnight. We, more than anyone, understand the road to recovery may be long and difficult, and we wanted to help by putting money into the hands of parents, who can decide what is best for their family.”
The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and Payoneer previously teamed as the Relief Fund provided support to victims of Hurricane Sandy. The success of that program made it an easy decision to again use Payoneer Debit Cards to support families in Moore.
“Devastated in 1999 and 2013 by major tornadoes, the town of Moore already knows what it takes to rebuild,” said Scott Galit, CEO of Payoneer. “We are proud to support Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund’s effort to help ease some of the pressing financial needs of those families most impacted by the storm.”
