PALO ALTO, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--WatchDox, a provider of secure enterprise workflow solutions to protect, share and collaborate on files on any device, today announced that its solutions are compliant with the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, which goes into effect today. HITECH mandates that all entities that handle healthcare data, not just healthcare organizations and insurers, adhere to strict security and privacy requirements. WatchDox protects healthcare files no matter whom they are shared with or how they are accessed, including via mobile devices, so users can prevent data loss or theft and avoid HITECH’s stiff civil penalties and broad breach-notification directives.
“WatchDox data security solutions embed intelligence into every file, so healthcare organizations and the companies with which they work can protect patient data, while enabling their users to take advantage of the benefits of mobile collaboration and productivity”
WatchDox signs business associate agreements (BAA) for customers doing business with organizations covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the HITECH amendment. These BAA contracts guarantee personal healthcare information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. WatchDox is certified against the HIPAA/HITECH standards and can help customers with the encryption requirements of the mandate and the Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements, which go into effect in 2014 and regulate health information exchange.
“WatchDox data security solutions embed intelligence into every file, so healthcare organizations and the companies with which they work can protect patient data, while enabling their users to take advantage of the benefits of mobile collaboration and productivity,” said Ryan Kalember, chief product officer at WatchDox.
WatchDox healthcare customers include hospitals, healthcare agencies, providers, insurers and university teaching hospitals, which need to protect sensitive research, private health information and personal health record files. The HITECH regulations touch these organizations and many others, including contractors and subcontractors, who need strong file-level security in order to stay in compliance as they work with partners and customers in the healthcare market.
