“Adam’s extensive expertise in environmental and mining law is an important addition to our Firm, and we are very pleased that he will be our partner,” said Robert M. Loughney, a Partner at Couch White. "His specialized experience will bring great value to the services we provide our clients. We are very excited to have him on board."
Mr. Schultz’s frequent interaction with NYSDEC, including its Division of Mineral Resources (the division responsible for regulating mining and oil and gas development in the State) has afforded Mr. Schultz the knowledge and insight to effectively navigate New York’s unique regulatory environment. Throughout his career, Mr. Schultz has represented companies involved in supplying, building and maintaining the nation’s infrastructure. He also represents other industrial, commercial and residential development clients seeking to secure the approvals necessary for development. To that end, Mr. Schultz appears regularly before federal and state agencies, as well as local zoning and permitting authorities. Included among the complex matters that Mr. Schultz has handled are: the successful conclusion of over 100 federal and state siting and permitting processes, including hearings and/or litigation for numerous large industrial and commercial operations; permitting of state-wide and county-wide emergency communications networks for first-responders; representing private land owners in defending or prosecuting federal or state cost recovery actions related to alleged soil and groundwater contamination; and serving as environmental counsel and providing due diligence and auditing services for business transactions, including multi-site business operations.
“I have a focus in a unique practice area (environmental and mining law) and Couch White’s construction, energy and land use practice areas are the perfect complement,” said Adam. “This new relationship with Couch White adds a key component to the broad array of legal services we offer our clients at every stage of a project.”
Mr. Schultz will work out of Couch White’s Albany office, located at 540 Broadway, and will maintain an additional office in Cazenovia, New York. Couch White is headquartered in Albany, NY, with additional offices in Saratoga Springs, New York City, Washington, D.C. and Farmington, Connecticut.
