FRISCO, Texas--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Encryptics, a provider of patented data privacy and protection services for businesses and government, today announced that the company has submitted its Encryptics Cryptographic Library to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for testing and validation under Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS).
“With an Encryptics-branded solution -- and with the white-labeled ‘Powered by Encryptics’ solution -- businesses and government agencies can set a new precedent in their industry and showcase their proactive approach to data protection.”
Encryptics has filed for FIPS 140-2 Level 1 certification, which applies to software-based encryption services. The testing process confirms that an encryption engine properly assures data protection, confidentiality and integrity. Encryptics’ data protection and privacy solutions integrate seamlessly into existing IT infrastructure, and no new hardware is required.
NIST is the federal technology agency that works with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements and standards. The Encryptics filing can be found on the NIST website. The full certification process typically takes up to one year to complete.
“Pursuit of formal FIPS-140 certification demonstrates Encryptics’ strong commitment to enabling the development and delivery of secure applications using the company’s cryptographic engine,” said Dick Schaeffer, Encryptics Chief Security Advisor and former Information Assurance Director at the National Security Agency. “FIPS 140 certification is required by many elements of the Federal Government as well as some commercial entities. Successful testing will mean that any developer and all end users can leverage this cryptographic engine with the assurance that it has been validated through the NIST Cryptographic Module Verification Program.”
ENCRYPTICS CYRPTOGRAPHIC LIBRARY
The Encryptics Cryptographic Library is the company’s core cryptography module, which is embedded within the company’s Trusted Peer to PeerTM platform and combined with patented “True Digital Rights Management” (DRM). In this solution, data is wrapped in a Universal .SAFE File Format, which simplifies the task of automating any type of data file. This allows customers to control who can see their information, for how long, and whether the data can be printed, copied, saved or forwarded. Customers can remotely revoke access to data at any time.
“The Application Programming Interface (API) allows customers and partners to integrate the Encryptics solution into their own applications and infrastructure, ensuring robust data protection while minimizing any disruption to current business workflows,” said Encryptics Chief Executive Officer Mitch Scherr. “With an Encryptics-branded solution -- and with the white-labeled ‘Powered by Encryptics’ solution -- businesses and government agencies can set a new precedent in their industry and showcase their proactive approach to data protection.”
Encryptics also provides Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities for automated, context-aware encryption. This allows customers to set rules and policies, including keyword searches, that automatically enforce the encryption of sensitive information. With Encryptics, rules can be enforced directly on the user’s device rather than increasing risk by sending outbound communications to an encryption server for review. This capability can be managed from the Encryptics WebPortal.
