AMSTERDAM--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Celeno Communications, a leading provider of high-performance Wi-Fi chips and software for home networking applications, today announced that iiNet, Australia's second largest DSL broadband provider, has picked Celeno’s 802.11ac chip to enable data and HD video streaming directly from future products to be developed as part of the iiNet Labs product range.
“Celeno's ability to effectively manage HD quality Wi-Fi among multiple devices in the home provides a critical advantage for our customers and partners.”
Following the successful experience and outstanding performance by Celeno’s 802.11n solution in previous products developed in iiNet Labs, the company has chosen the latest Celeno-enabled technology, 802.11ac, for its next generation of hardware. The new standard which operates at the 5GHz band exclusively, aims to improve Wi-Fi capabilities by increasing modem speed and enabling operation at 80MHz bonded Wi-Fi channels. Leveraging Celeno’s OptimizAIR™ technology maximizes the 802.11ac Wi-Fi capabilities for whole home coverage, assuring reliable wireless video service delivery and quality of experience for multiple connected devices, and helps mitigate interferences in dense deployments.
"iiNet sees 802.11ac as a great opportunity to give our customers a product with the best service and performance available," iiNet Chief Product Officer Stephen Harley said. "Celeno's OptimizAIR™ technology allows us to use the new standard to its fullest, and provide our customers with what we think is the most effective solution and, ultimately, the best IPTV experience available."
“iiNet’s implementation of 802.11ac is a testament to the strength of Celeno's relationship with iiNet and the added value our technology provides,” says Gilad Rozen, CEO of Celeno. “Celeno's ability to effectively manage HD quality Wi-Fi among multiple devices in the home provides a critical advantage for our customers and partners.”
The deal marks the second for iiNet with Celeno, following the announcement that the technology would be utilized throughout iiNet's Australian network in late 2011.
