MIAMI--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--What if your friends or customers could call you simply by dialing your name or business name into their smartphone? And say you’ve lost your phone numbers, what if you could call a friend simply by dialing their name or nickname into a smartphone? Well now there’s an app for that.
“Call-Signs don’t replace phone numbers, they just make them more memorable”
Words are so much easier to remember than numbers, which is why domain names and word-based vanity numbers became so popular. So for this very reason, one South Florida tech company is launching an app that will let you turn your existing phone number into any memorable word. This memorable word, called Call-Sign, simply acts as a nickname for your real phone number. When your Call-Sign is dialed into the app, your real phone number will actually be called.
“Call-Signs don’t replace phone numbers, they just make them more memorable,” says Mike McManigal, CEO and Founder of Call-Signs. “The key is to create a memorable Call-Sign your friends or customers would never forget it. A person might use their name or nickname as their Call-Sign, while a business might use their business name or keyword. Would you ever forget the number to your local pizzeria if all you had to do was dial the Call-Sign PIZZA?”
Before launching Call-Signs, McManigal owned many vanity 1-800 numbers and even worked for AT&T. His interest in telecom, especially vanity numbers, gave him the inspiration to develop Call-Signs. Soon after creating the company, Call-Signs was selected into a technology incubator program called Incubate Miami. The incubator helped McManigal launch a test version of the app, whereas roughly 5,000 Call-Signs were registered. Although the majority of registered Call-Signs were from individuals, several very large national companies registered Call-Signs as well.
The official version of the Call-Signs app is now available for download, and Android and iPhone users can download this free app to dial any registered Call-Sign. The app can also be used to register personal and business Call-Signs, for a small yearly fee. McManigal said, “Everybody has a smartphone, so personalize your phone number with a memorable Call-Sign these smartphone users will never forget.” http://www.Call-Signs.com
