CHICAGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Big Ten Conference and Forward Market Media (FMM) today announced that hard-to-find lodging reservations are now part of the 2013 Forward Market reservation system at the Big Ten Network (BTN) website. Fans can now reserve either a Deluxe Room and/or a King Suite in addition to a “TeamTix,” giving them the right to both a luxurious lodging option just minutes from the stadium and a face-value ticket – which they only buy if their team qualifies for the Big Ten Football Championship Game.
“The Forward Market is redefining how people access the sports and entertainment events that matter most to them”
With most area premium hotels already booked for the Championship Game this year, many fans will face challenges if they have to wait until their team qualifies to find lodging. Since TeamTix reservations are contingent on a specific fan’s team qualifying, the system provides an entirely new option for those wanting to avoid the stress and expense associated with last-minute hotel accommodations.
Lodging is available at the sold-out Conrad Indianapolis, which was voted a 'Top U.S. Hotel' again this year by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine's Readers' Choice Awards and is located just minutes from Lucas Oil Stadium, where the game is played. The Indianapolis Conrad is only 20 minutes from the airport and attached to the skywalk which connects to the Circle Centre Mall and hundreds of local Indianapolis restaurants. The top rated U.S. hotel also features a wellness center, an on-site fitness center, and an Evan Todd Salon and Day Spa.
Here’s how it works: starting Wednesday, September 11th, football fans from any of the Big Ten schools can go to BTN.com/teamtix, to select their favorite team and purchase a reservation to both the game and a hotel room. If their team qualifies to play, the fan is obligated to purchase the ticket and hotel at face value. If the team they specify does not qualify, their “TeamTix” expires and the fan forfeits only the reservation fees.
Fans can also trade their “TeamTix” and associated hotel reservations in real time in the Big Ten Forward Market, where prices can rise and fall with each team’s on-field performance as the season progresses. In addition, this year, special team-specific Twitter hashtags will enable fans to closely follow their team’s forward marketplace to buy and sell in real time.
“The Forward Market is redefining how people access the sports and entertainment events that matter most to them,” notes Tim Browne, President of Forward Market Media. “Bringing a lodging option to the Big Ten system is just the beginning of what we see as the future of our platform. We believe fans deserve more than just access to tickets when their team wins. They deserve to get to the game on their own terms, with the option to reserve hotels and other necessary elements of a once-in-a-lifetime event experience.”
