ANAHEIM, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG) BusinessObjects Strategic Special Interest Group (SIG) celebrated the achievements of the past four years and charted a course for the future at the ASUG Influencer Summit, which was held Sunday, Sept. 8, in conjunction with the 2013 ASUG SAP® BusinessObjects™ User Conference (SBOUC). This year’s Summit included a special panel discussion to mark the finale of this annual event. Going forward, the content and dialogue covered at the Summit will be seamlessly incorporated into the ongoing work of the Strategic SIG.
“The Influencer Summit is an example of what ASUG does best. Bar none, no one does Influence like ASUG.”
The ASUG BusinessObjects Strategic SIG was established in 2010 at the inaugural ASUG Influencer Summit, creating an infrastructure dedicated to the needs and concerns of the SAP BusinessObjects customer community and providing a platform for user collaboration, representation and influence with SAP.
During "The State of the SIG: A Look at Progress, Plans for Continued Strength" panel discussion at the Summit, Strategic SIG leaders and SAP representatives highlighted the significant strides the community has made in advancing the customer agenda for the SAP BusinessObjects Suite, including progress to date in the group's five focus areas – Product Roadmaps/Product Quality, Education, Integration, Quality and Support.
Throughout the Summit, Volunteers shared and obtained attendee feedback on a vision for the future and roadmap to accomplish the work that remains to be done.
This year’s gathering, the group's 4th Influencer Summit, was as much a celebration as it was a work session. When SAP acquired BusinessObjects software in 2007, there were some 43,000 users representing more than 80 percent of Fortune 500 companies and they were vastly underrepresented within SAP. ASUG’s formation of the Global BusinessObjects Network (GBN) and initiatives like the ASUG BusinessObjects Strategic SIG transformed individual users and dozens of regional and local SAP BusinessObjects groups into a cohesive powerhouse of global influence. Today, ASUG’s BusinessObjects community is one of the strongest in the SAP ecosystem, with more than 2,400 active members engaged in the ASUG Strategic SIG.
“We wanted to make the community better,” said Greg Myers, ASUG Volunteer and member of the Strategic SIG. “The Influencer Summit is an example of what ASUG does best. Bar none, no one does Influence like ASUG.”
