PLAINSBORO, N.J.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Physicians’ Education Resource®, LLC (PER®), the go-to source for excellence in continuing medical education, will host an Update for Clinicians on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Melanoma and Other Cutaneous Malignancies on Sept. 28 at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla.
“We look forward to hosting an educational and interactive program highlighting this fast-moving field.”
In recent years, there have been dramatic changes in the understanding of the molecular mechanisms that lead to cutaneous malignancies, as well as new advances in harnessing the immune system to control them. This CME-certified activity is a one-day educational and scientific meeting that will focus on key clinical topics in the management of melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies.
In partnership with Moffitt, this interactive forum will target medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists and encourage collaboration between local and national Moffitt faculty to increase knowledge and ultimately improve patient outcomes. The treatments and advances are dynamic, and dermatologists, dermatopathologists and pathologists, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals are invited to attend.
“PER® is proud to help the oncology community stay on top of recent advances in the treatment of melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies in order to enable the best patient care possible,” said Deborah Augustus, Vice President, Independent Medical Education of PER®. “We are proud to partner with Moffitt Cancer Center to bring these specialists together.”
Moffitt is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida. Physicians in Moffitt’s Cutaneous Oncology Program have helped pioneer the development and understanding of the role of lymphatic mapping and sentinel node biopsy in staging patients with clinically negative nodes. They have also investigated adjuvant therapy for both node-negative and node-positive patients.
“The upcoming melanoma symposium will feature outstanding speakers from Moffitt’s Department of Cutaneous Oncology and outside lecturers who will present the latest information on diagnosing, staging and managing cutaneous malignancies,” said Jeffrey S. Weber, M.D., Ph.D., Moffitt medical oncologist and director of the Donald A. Adam Comprehensive Melanoma Research Center of Excellence. “We look forward to hosting an educational and interactive program highlighting this fast-moving field.”
