ALPHARETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Refinishing Touch, world leader in on-site environmentally safe and sustainable furniture refinishing and re-upholstering for private and public organizations, has completed a guestroom desk preservation project across 143 rooms for the Hilton Garden Inn Columbia/Northeast hotel, in Columbia, South Carolina. The Refinishing Touch refinished the desks and applied protective edge molding on-site with minimal disruption in room use and environmental impact, and saved the hotel $46,439 compared to buying new assets.
As a hotel with a high guest demand, the Hilton Garden Inn saw progressive wear and damage on its frequently used wooden desks, a result of chairs rubbing up against the edge of each desk. Hotel management wanted a sustainable and top-of-the-line solution to update its furniture to like-new conditions while staying in line with Hilton brand standards.
The Refinishing Touch was chosen for its furniture asset management solutions, specifically its furniture refinishing and remanufacturing services. After discussions with Hilton officials and The Refinishing Touch, a re-engineering solution was created to preserve and restore existing desks in guestrooms. In a short amount of time, the hotel’s desks were updated on-site with new protective rubber T-moldings and refinished with a non-toxic, non-flammable and volatile organic compound (VOC)-free color change.
Sean Branch, general manager, Hilton Garden Inn Columbia/Northeast hotel, said: “It was essential to find a solution that was both fiscally and environmentally friendly to implement throughout the Hilton brand. The Refinishing Touch did a wonderful job of completing the project on-site without disrupting our guests or compromising customer service. The quality of the work exceeded our brand standards, and the refinished guest room desks look and feel like new – without having to worry of future damage caused by chairs.”
Mario Insenga, founder and president, The Refinishing Touch, said: “As a company that has worked in the hospitality industry for over three decades, we are all too aware of the need for cost-effective, on-site re-engineering solutions that take the place of purchasing new. After careful planning with the Hilton Garden Inn, together we created a solution to an ongoing company-wide issue. Ultimately, we solved a problem that eliminated future furniture damage and were able to reduce the overall project cost by 84 percent, all while ensuring work was in line with corporate brand standards.”
