SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Proximal Data, the leading provider of hypervisor I/O intelligence software solutions, today announced it is teaming up with LSI Corporation to integrate Proximal Data’s server-side caching technology with PCIe® flash LSI® Nytro™ application acceleration products. The integrated solutions are designed to accelerate application performance in VMware environments by reducing I/O bottlenecks and increasing the number of virtual machines (VMs) supported per server by up to three times.
“We see strong demand from customers for a solution to optimize the performance of their VMware deployments without disrupting their IT operations”
The collaboration evolved from the success of Proximal Data and LSI’s established relationship in which the companies recommend Proximal Data’s AutoCache server-side caching software with LSI Nytro WarpDrive® application acceleration cards to their respective customers. Proximal Data’s AutoCache increases VM density with absolutely no impact on IT operations. It plugs easily into industry-leading hypervisors, such as VMware’s ESXi, and transparently works on all I/O without requiring agents in guest operating systems. AutoCache places hot I/O onto LSI Nytro PCIe flash cards to intelligently supply priority data traffic to VMs.
“We see strong demand from customers for a solution to optimize the performance of their VMware deployments without disrupting their IT operations,” said Manish Muthal, vice president of product management and strategy, Accelerated Solutions Division, LSI. “Proximal Data enables accelerated performance in virtualized environments without requiring an agent to be installed in guest VMs. The technology is easy to deploy and supports all major operating systems, making it a very cost-effective solution for helping customers optimize the performance of their business applications and migrate additional workloads to virtualized environments.”
“LSI technology is widely deployed in data center environments to provide highly reliable and scalable enterprise storage,” said Rory Bolt, CEO of Proximal Data. “LSI is a leading provider of enterprise flash storage solutions that deliver high performance, availability and total cost of ownership benefits. The company’s Nytro technology is well-suited for virtualized environments and works in harmony with our technology to provide a more affordable option than other methods of solving the I/O bottleneck.”
AutoCache works seamlessly within a VMware environment and in concert with operations such as vMotion and VAAI. It can also be managed from within vCenter/vSphere. Customers have successfully used AutoCache to improve the performance of business-critical applications that are running in virtualized environments, realizing a tremendous return on their investment in AutoCache.
About Proximal Data
Proximal Data is the innovative creator of AutoCache server-side caching software with I/O Intelligence™ that works within virtualization hypervisors. Our technology allows for the granular characterization of each I/O in real time, complete with how the I/O is mapped through the hypervisor and how to control the I/O in the right context. AutoCache uses these hypervisor caching innovations to dramatically increase virtual machine density and performance by eliminating I/O bottlenecks without disrupting IT operations. AutoCache is the most simple, cost-effective way to use enterprise flash in the data center. www.proximaldata.com
