A webinar poll on Software-Defined Networking (SDN) & Network Virtualization, jointly hosted by Heavy Reading Analyst, Sterling Perrin, and chief technologists from Netsocket, showed results that point to the demand for SDN as a means of next generation network transformation and those deployment scenarios generating the greatest demand for virtualized networks. Key findings include:

- Overwhelmingly 72% of the service provider and enterprise respondents agreed that having the means to provide network optimization through automation was the lead use case deployment scenario driving the demand for SDN.
- Proven interoperability with legacy network hardware and the lack of complete end-to-end virtualized network solutions were equally charted as the greatest hindrance to the actual move to SDN today.
