NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GlassesOff Inc. (OTC:GLSO) today announced that the company’s Chief Scientific Officer will present new scientific data from recent studies, using GlassesOff’s proprietary neuroscientific technology, that demonstrate the transfer of Perceptual Learning tasks to practical improvement in visual functions.
“The transfer of learning to different visual functions indicates that the improvement can be generalized. The transfer between different visual tasks can be achieved by improving the processing speed, which enables more efficient processing of many visual functions.”
In these studies, participants that trained on a specific visual task demonstrated improvement in various vision functions, suggesting that GlassesOff’s technology is not limited to reading improvement and can be effective in numerous vision functions.
Prof. Polat will report results obtained from two different subject groups: 1) group of presbyopes (aging eye, average age ~51 years) and 2) group of young subjects (20-30 years old). In both groups training with the GlassesOff product improved multiple visual functions such as contrast sensitivity, visual acuity, crowding, reaction time, 3D vision, object detection and reading speed.
The robust results from the studies indicate that there is a potential to develop additional commercial applications utilizing the GlassesOff platform. These applications will be designated to improve multiple visual functions, including 3D vision, reaction time and object detection in several mass market segments, including sports performance for hundreds of millions of professional and amateur athletes, applications for increase in reading speed for school children, as well as other mass market applications.
Prof Polat, CSO and co-founder of GlassesOff™ commented, “The transfer of learning to different visual functions indicates that the improvement can be generalized. The transfer between different visual tasks can be achieved by improving the processing speed, which enables more efficient processing of many visual functions.”
The data will be presented on August 28, 2013, at the European Conference on Visual Perception, on Wednesday, August 28 in Bremen, Germany.
GlassesOff Inc. is a company developing and commercializing next generation vision sharpness applications. GlassesOff™ has developed a proprietary, patent-protected technology platform to improve near vision sharpness, by improving the image processing function in the visual cortex of the brain, without changing the optical characteristics of the eye. The GlassesOff™ product has been designed to eliminate the dependency on reading glasses of people over the age of 40 who experience natural age-related changes in their near vision sharpness. The GlassesOff™ product is expected to be sold initially as an iPhone/iPad app, and was named one of the top Emerging Breakthroughs in Science and Technology for 2013 by Reader’s Digest Magazine.
