NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Poliana today announced the launch of a new company focused on big data in politics and making the political process more transparent. “The idea of Poliana started in our dorm room at Belmont. It has been a dream of ours for many years. We want to help people see through the political process.”
“We are excited about the opportunity to help individuals understand the political landscape,” said Grayson Carroll, chief executive officer of Poliana. “The idea of Poliana started in our dorm room at Belmont. It has been a dream of ours for many years. We want to help people see through the political process.”
The management team is led by Grayson Carroll, Patrick Cason, David Gilmore, and Shawn Whiting. The company presented at Northstar Studios on August 22nd as part of the Jumpstart Foundry’s investor day.
The name is short for “political analytics,” but it also plays off the term “pollyanna” which is a principle about people always responding positively to situations, no matter how bad they might be. “For us, it has a double meaning with the aspiration to bring transparency into the political process while making it fun and positive,” said Carroll.
