RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yukon Medical, LLC., a leading developer of innovative pharmaceutical preparation and delivery devices announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued Patent No. 8,475,404 for its Vial Access and Injection System. Yukon has also recently been awarded Patent No. D681,230 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its innovative “Shroud Device.” The new patents will add to Yukon’s current patent portfolio in addition to highlighting the company’s advancement in drug access and delivery devices.

Patent No. 8,475,404 includes advancements for Yukon’s Vial Access and Injection System for sterile access to standard drug vials and needle free drug preparation and administration. The advancement allows direct access to the contents of standard drug vials without using the pre-attached, covered needle, thus maintaining sterility and needle sharpness for administration. Yukon’s Vial Access and Injection System also provides a patent pending passive needle safety feature that activates after delivery of the medication.
Design Patent No. D681,230 covers the aesthetic design of Yukon’s vial access shroud. Yukon’s unique shroud design permanently locks on to the drug vial closure to ensure the highest level of vial security, and is patent pending.
