About Penny Madden
An English-qualified solicitor, Madden focuses her contentious practice on international arbitration and cross-border disputes. She is experienced in all key aspects of international arbitration and represents clients in the UK, Europe and internationally in a variety of arbitration proceedings, including those before the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), as well as in ad hoc proceedings. In addition, she has significant experience in regulatory investigations and anti-corruption legislation and frequently advises European companies registered in the United Kingdom and/or the United States on complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory enforcement issues. She is a member of the LCIA, the Financial Sector Arbitration Group and the Editorial Board of Commercial Dispute Resolution, and is listed by Chambers & Partners as a leading individual in International Arbitration.
Prior to joining the firm, Madden was a partner with Skadden Arps’ London office, where she practiced since 2007. Before that, she practiced with Clifford Chance and Shearman & Sterling. She graduated from the College of Law, Guildford in 1992. She is fluent in German.
