SPARTANBURG, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Yvonne Harper has joined the staff of Spartanburg Methodist College as Director of Public Information. Harper will continue to serve as Director of the college’s Paralegal Certificate Program. She has directed the program for the past 9 years.

As Director of Public Information, Harper will work with all areas of the College to coordinate public information, managing communication projects with supporting vendors and serving as the primary point-of-contact for media relations and public information needs.

Given her contacts in the Upstate, I fully expect Yvonne will be able to extend the reach of the College in new and exciting ways,” shared Spartanburg Methodist College President, Colleen Perry Keith. “We are very excited to have Yvonne on our team.”
Since relocating to Spartanburg in 1998, Harper has worked for the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce serving most recently as Program Manager and Sponsorship Coordinator and previously as Manager of the GSP Drug-Free Workplace Alliance, a dual program of the Greater Greenville and Spartanburg Area Chambers of Commerce. Harper will continue to serve as a Commissioner for the City of Spartanburg’s Human Relations Commission.
Her background includes significant experience in college and community relations, serving as Community Relations Coordinator for the Second Harvest Food Bank in Elizabethton, TN; Director of College Relations for Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA; and Director of Marketing and Community Relations for Theatre Bristol, the Appalachian Children’s Theatre, in Bristol, TN.
In addition, Harper worked in the legal field for over 13 years as a litigation and bankruptcy paralegal; served as Assistant Director of her alma mater’s pre-law/paralegal program and has taught on the college level since 1990. She holds two baccalaureate degrees: one in Business/Merchandising and the other in Paralegal/Pre-Law Studies from Virginia Intermont College.
