WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Agriculture Energy Coalition today thanked Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and other members of the Senate for passing legislation to reauthorize the Farm Bill and including robust mandatory funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.
Lloyd Ritter, co-director of the Coalition, said, “Farm Bill renewable energy and energy efficiency programs have a solid track record in supporting growth in agriculture, manufacturing, and new employment opportunities in rural America. They ensure that critical investments are made in agriculture energy development, which brings energy security and environmental benefits to the entire United States. We urge the House of Representatives to include the same funding of Farm Bill energy programs in its version of the legislation. We look forward to working with Senators Stabenow and Cochran as well as members of the House of Representatives to ensure the continued success of Farm Bill energy programs.”
The AgEC is a broad membership-based consortium of organizations and companies representing a broad spectrum of clean, renewable energy, energy efficiency and bioproducts stakeholders. It includes members focused on feedstock production and conversion technologies, rural economic development and diversification, biofuels, products and power, and renewable electricity production, environmental quality, and others. Coalition members are committed to seeing a strong bi-partisan energy title in the next farm bill that builds on the tremendous clean energy accomplishments USDA has already realized and provides resources to USDA at a level that enables them to continue and expand this important mission.
