MORRISTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its continuing efforts to inform and educate the life sciences industry about the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, which formally passed into law this year, QPharma, Inc. is offering a Sunshine Act eLearning module for presentation on learning management systems.
“QPharma’s online training course summarizes the Sunshine Act, emphasizes its key concepts, and outlines requirements for reporting”
The Sunshine Act requires applicable manufacturers of drugs, devices, biologics, or medical supplies to disclose financial relationships, payments, and other transfers of value to physicians and teaching hospitals. These transfers of value, collectively referred to as a life sciences firm’s Aggregate Spend, must be reported to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The data collection period officially begins on August 1 of this year, and reporting for 2013 will be due by March 31, 2014. This is in addition to transparency reporting that is already required by regulatory authorities in certain states.
“QPharma’s online training course summarizes the Sunshine Act, emphasizes its key concepts, and outlines requirements for reporting,” explained Ed Sleeper, Managing Director of Software Solutions and Client Experience at QPharma. “This type of overview can provide an essential foundation for life sciences companies seeking to gain a clearer understanding of the Sunshine Act and its ramifications.”
The SCORM-compliant training module can be integrated with virtually any learning management system, or delivered by QPharma’s own Python LMS™ system, which the firm’s clients use to train and certify their field sales representatives and other personnel. QPharma also offers a Sunshine Act reporting tool called qSpend®, which helps life sciences companies efficiently track, monitor, and report on their Aggregate Spend activities.
Companies can learn more about these solutions by contacting Ed Sleeper, at (973) 656-0011, ex. 2042.
