LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Spend-savvy Brits will be looking for Valentine's bargains this year - with over 4 in 10 of us seeking to spend well under £50 on gifts for our nearest and dearest, according to new research by LivingSocial, the local marketplace to discover and share great experiences in your local area.
“With the most romantic day of the year around the corner, it seems British consumers are keen to be romanced with great value deals this February.”
Conversely, less than 4% of Brits are banking on splashing out over £100 on luxury gifts and experiences this year, the survey found.
Peter Briffett, Managing Director of LivingSocial in the UK and Ireland, said: "With the most romantic day of the year around the corner, it seems British consumers are keen to be romanced with great value deals this February."
Almost twice as many of us (19%) will be planning ahead this year, buying presents and cards in advance rather than grabbing a gift at the last minute (10%).
When it comes to the types of gifts we crave, meals out, (27.41%) romantic breaks away (26.31%) and flowers (22.04%) still top the charts. Almost a quarter of those surveyed (23.8%), would be happy with a card alone.
However, not all of us are content with this more austere approach to the most romantic day of the year, with 1 in 10 of us craving something a little out of the ordinary and would love to be treated to a new activity or experience on Valentine's Day. A more ambitious 7% of us have their eyes on luxury gifts, such as jewellery and technological gadgets.
