NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, a pioneer and leader in sustainable luxury hospitality, is embarking on an era of expansion, announcing five new-build properties across five countries. All are scheduled for completion by 2016. The new additions will include the brand’s Western Hemisphere debut, with properties under development in St. Lucia, Dominican Republic and Colombia; its first presence in Bhutan, and the opening of Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, China at the end of 2013.
“There is a strong and organic emphasis at Six Senses to our commitment to sustainability. It is part of the brand DNA and influences aspects of the business ranging from materials used in daily operations to how we engage with the local community.”
The significant growth of the distinctive brand comes to fruition under new leadership, with Wolf Hengst as Executive Chairman and Neil Jacobs as Chief Executive Officer of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. Hengst, an internationally respected leader in the industry and four-year member of Six Senses Board of Directors, and Jacobs, a 30-year hospitality veteran with long experience in Asia, will work hand-in-hand to shape Six Senses strategic vision and advance its global presence. Bernhard Bohnenberger, President of Six Senses, continues in that role reporting directly to Jacobs.
Charged with fostering the award-winning spa and wellness program, Anna Bjurstam joins the executive team as Vice President of Spa and Wellness for the brand. Under her direction, Six Senses will continue to pioneer new standards and innovations to deliver meaningful benefit. Through technical and high-touch treatments, the multi-dimensional wellness program will blend the physical with the spiritual and the pampering with self-actualization.
“Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is positioned for exciting growth into new markets, reaching new audiences and creating new experiences for our guests,” says Neil Jacobs, chief executive officer, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. “There is a strong and organic emphasis at Six Senses to our commitment to sustainability. It is part of the brand DNA and influences aspects of the business ranging from materials used in daily operations to how we engage with the local community.”
In addition to the physical expansion, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is introducing a new visual identity, which will be introduced with a new web site in early March. The new branding will place emphasis on the refined and modern traits of Six Senses, while preserving its philosophy of being part of the local culture, yet in tune with the wider world. The continued commitment to fostering individual balance is exemplified in the six-sphere pyramid graphic which represents the five human senses – sight, sound, touch, taste, smell – and the top-most sphere being the innate sixth sense. It is now reproduced in purple, channeling the color’s association to dignity, wisdom, spirituality and passion; and in green, which speaks to life, growth and the environment, that will be used specifically for the Six Senses Spas.
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has earned a truly global following since its founding nearly 15 years ago by offering emotional hospitality anchored in intuitive, anticipatory and empathetic attention brought to life by resort hosts who connect with individual guests. The crafted experiences of each destination, from diving with marine biologists and stargazing with a lead astronomer to batik making and homestays with local families, are designed to stimulate, energize and restore in innovative ways that will reach the most seasoned traveler.
With Six Senses resorts and spas currently operating in Asia, the Middle East, the Americas and Europe, the brand is synonymous with an authentic style of hospitality – relaxed, and natural, and in tune with the environment.
