WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner released a video Monday describing his passion for school choice and announcing his support for National School Choice Week 2013 (www.schoolchoiceweek.com).
“I've always believed that parents are best quipped to know their children's needs, and for that reason parents should be empowered to select the best learning environment for their children.”
"Millions of children are denied access to great schools, denying them access to their own American dreams," Speaker Boehner says in the video. "I've always believed that parents are best quipped to know their children's needs, and for that reason parents should be empowered to select the best learning environment for their children." National School Choice Week 2013 runs from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2 and shines a spotlight on the need for effective education options for all American children. In only its third year, this bipartisan, grassroots effort features more than 3,000 independently planned and organized events spanning all 50 states.
The parents, students, educators and community members involved in National School Choice Week believe families should have the ability to choose high-performing traditional public schools, public charter schools, private schools, magnet schools, virtual schools or home schooling.
“It’s inspiring to hear one of our nation’s foremost leaders argue so passionately for school choice,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “I hope more Congressional leaders join with Speaker Boehner in this true sign of bi-partisanship: giving all parents and all students greater access to all forms of school choice.”
