PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Brookville Center for Children’s Services, an AHRC Nassau affiliate, has deployed SituCon System’s Emergency Awareness Solution throughout its Autism Program. SituCon’s innovative solution which features patented privacy protecting technologies, a sophisticated alerting system and on-demand video, instantly alerts administrators to critical situations and allows them to see what is happening, while guaranteeing student and staff privacy at all other times. The SituCam Privacy Protecting Camera, a key component of the solution, features “eyelids” which enable cameras to be placed in privacy sensitive areas such as classrooms, therapy areas and counseling offices.
“Immediately after implementing SituCon’s solution at our Brookville location we recognized a dramatically positive difference in our ability to proactively and effectively deal with a number of situations”
Brookville Center for Children’s Services operates an intensive year-round Autism Program dedicated to meeting the needs of children with autism spectrum disorders. Brookville Center strives to provide the most optimal learning and professional environment for students, their families and staff. Consistent with this, a non-invasive solution was sought that would provide maximum safety to students and staff without impeding upon privacy or causing unnecessary distractions.
Now, with just the push of a staff member’s wireless SituCon Instant Alert button, specifically trained “at the ready” personnel are immediately notified using wireless handheld devices. These notifications detail who pressed the button and where they are in the building. Simultaneously, as “eyelids” on SituCam Privacy Protecting Cameras open, real-time video of the situation is seen as it unfolds. At all other times, SituCam’s “eyelids” remain closed guaranteeing client and staff privacy.
Program administrators credit SituCon’s solution with improving incident response time to mere seconds, while still maintaining a comfortable and productive environment without any privacy implications. “Immediately after implementing SituCon’s solution at our Brookville location we recognized a dramatically positive difference in our ability to proactively and effectively deal with a number of situations,” said Sherry Black, Program Supervisor. “Instead of using telephones or other time consuming solutions to notify administrators, we can now instantly respond to incidents with a coordinated approach and all of the necessary resources.”
“While the Brookville Center for Children’s Services is effectively utilizing our technology to enhance overall safety and incident response time, they truly recognize that this is not merely a supplemental, ‘just in case’ solution, but something that can be used daily to improve the quality of life for everyone involved in the organization,” said Seth Cirker, President of SituCon Systems. “We are thrilled with the results of this partnership to date and look forward to applying the benefits of our technology in similar settings across the country.”
