CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kairos Consulting Worldwide today announced the launch of a new Washington office, which will expand capacity in its government services practice to meet the needs of federal agencies. Veteran federal consultant James D. Schmitt was named Senior Director of Business Development and will lead the practice.
“The quality of their work supporting our government’s requirements is exemplary and well-documented. It is an exciting time to further support Kairos’ growth in helping government agencies achieve maximum efficiencies in their business process and change management requirements.”
Schmitt, 47, joins Kairos from AECOM International Development, where he served as technical director responsible for three separate United States Agency for International Development programs in Afghanistan. Schmitt brings broad experience in strategic planning and engagement, opportunity analysis and marketing. He is charged with adding capacity to the Chicago-based firm’s government practice.
“Kairos selected Jim to head the federal consulting practice because of his extensive experience planning and executing complex, long-term contracts for federal agencies,” said Lynn Sutton, Kairos managing principal. “Jim has an insider’s perspective on the needs of government and a 20-year history of effectively meeting those needs for a variety of agencies. Kairos is proud to have saved taxpayers more than $24 million last year as part of our federal consulting work and Jim’s leadership will ensure all of our government engagements achieve comparable returns for the nation.”
“It is an honor and a privilege to join such a high-performing firm as Kairos,” Schmitt said. “The quality of their work supporting our government’s requirements is exemplary and well-documented. It is an exciting time to further support Kairos’ growth in helping government agencies achieve maximum efficiencies in their business process and change management requirements.”
As Vice President and Senior Director for the Stabilization and Development Division at Creative Associates International, Schmitt developed a two-year, $23 million Proof of Concept stabilization program and orchestrated growth of the division by developing new international programs in support of the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of State and the United States Agency for International Development.
Schmitt holds a B.S. in geography from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College. Schmitt began his career as an officer in the United States Army, where his assignments included the North Atlantic Treaty Association (NATO) and the US Central Command (CENTCOM), where he deployed in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
