NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Shorty Awards, in partnership with New York Life, announced today the launch of the #KeepGoodGoing Award honoring a #dad or #mom who is passionate about his or her family and uses social media to help and inspire others to do the same.

Beginning on January 7th, the public can go to ShortyAwards.com to nominate a #mom or #dad whose lessons have helped to keep a family or others going by sharing their stories or tips via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or through other social media platforms. To nominate a #mom or #dad, go to ShortyAwards.com and complete the statement “I nominate @User for a Shorty Award in #KeepGoodGoing because...” with a reason why and tweet the vote. If the vote is eligible, it will show up on a real-time leader board on the site.
The #KeepGoodGoing Shorty Award winner will be selected based on the total number of nominations received, the impact and creativity of the nominee’s tweets, and innovation in the use of social media as determined by a soon-to-be-announced jury on the Real-Time Academy of Shorty Form Arts & Science. The Academy’s current members include Steve Wozniak, Nick Cannon, Alyssa Milano and others. Eligibility is limited to parents who actively share good with others. The winner will be announced on April 8, 2013 at the fifth Annual Shorty Awards ceremony in New York City.
