“With the winemaking talent we’ve seen in our own Tim White, our focus is on making high quality, artful wines that are reflective of some of the most unique landscape in the world”
In November this year, Arizona Stronghold was awarded the Class Champion Double Gold at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ 2013 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition for its 2010 Mangus, a Sangiovese blend.
Held November 10–11, nearly 2,900 wines from 943 wineries were judged at this year’s Rodeo wine competition. Arizona Stronghold’s 2011 Tazi, an aromatic white blend, took home a gold medal, while the 2011 Dala Chardonnay, 2011 Mandala white – a Roussanne, and 2011 Nachise – a Rhône blend were recognized with silver medals.
The Arizona label also took home awards this year from the Arizona Republic Wine Competition and the Jefferson Cup Invitational Wine Competition – continuing to make a mark on both the national and international winemaking scene for wines made in the Grand Canyon state.
“With the winemaking talent we’ve seen in our own Tim White, our focus is on making high quality, artful wines that are reflective of some of the most unique landscape in the world,” said Paula Woolsey, Director of Sales for Arizona Stronghold Vineyards.
Arizona Stronghold's vineyards, located in southeastern Arizona about 15 miles south of Willcox, grow at elevations up to 6,000 feet above sea level. Its winery is located in Northern Arizona, in Camp Verde, with its tasting room in Cottonwood, Arizona.
Woolsey continued, “It‘s a great accomplishment that our wines continue to be recognized on international winemaking stages like we’ve seen this year. Arizona wine is officially on the map, and we’re so proud to be a part of this movement coming out of our great state.”
The winery was co-founded by Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of the rock band Tool and owner of Merkin Vineyards and Caduceus Cellars, and Eric Glomski, owner and director of winemaking of Page Springs Cellars.
