FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) awarded Anne Reed, of Anne Reed Consulting, LLC, with the prestigious Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award for her significant contributions to the federal information technology (IT) community. Reed joined seven of her peers, all of whom were recognized for their demonstrated leadership and commitment to public service, at the November IAC General Membership Meeting yesterday evening.

The Janice K. Mendenhall Spirit of Leadership Award, which commemorates the life of long-time civil servant Janice Mendenhall, is the highest honor bestowed by ACT-IAC. In presenting Reed with the Mendenhall Award, IAC vice-chair Robert Suda recognized her many contributions as a senior executive in both government and industry. He noted that her activities to improve government through the adoption of IT, her mentoring of others, and her leadership in strengthening government and industry collaboration are in the best tradition of the Mendenhall Award.
Darren Ash, ACT President, presented the ACT President’s Award to Kathleen Turco, Associate Administrator at the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Governmentwide Policy. Molly O’Neill with CGI Federal was recognized with the IAC Chair’s Award. Both individuals demonstrate a strong commitment to encouraging public-private collaboration and cooperation.
Marietta Allen, Director of Information Technology Policy Management in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the Department of Interior and Leslie Barry, Vice President of Government Affairs and Business Development at GTSI were given a special President’s Award and Chair’s Award for their work in leading the ACT-IAC Volunteer Corps.
The award committee chose Rory Schultz, Chief Technology Officer for the Department of Agriculture as Government Contributor of Year for his leadership in the area of professional development – including the new Associates Program for future leaders. Tom Suder, President of Mobilegov, was presented with the Industry Contributor of the Year award. Suder co-chairs the ACT-IAC Advanced Mobility Working Group that provides a collaborative forum where government and industry work to implement the new digital strategy.
Rabiah Sutton with FWD Think was recognized as ACT-IAC’s Rookie of the Year for her leadership in programs and Shared Interest Groups (SIGs). Rabiah contributed significantly to the development of ACT-IAC events, including an industry perspective on the security risks and challenges to cloud computing in the federal government.
