MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MOM Brands® today announced that its Salt Lake City distribution center was named “Business Partner of the Year” at Columbus Community Center’s 7th annual “Dignity Through Work” event. This premier business event recognizes local businesses and individuals for the contributions they have made to support individuals with developmental disabilities so they can find meaningful employment in their community. MOM Brands was recognized for its partnership with Columbus to provide training and employment opportunities at its Salt Lake City facility.
“They develop a sense of hope, pride and accomplishment, and MOM Brands is crucial to that success.”
“The MOM Brands partnership allows employees with disabilities to use skills learned at Columbus and refine them in a real-world environment, giving them the confidence to later seek permanent employment,” said Gary Knapp, executive director of the Columbus Community Center. “They develop a sense of hope, pride and accomplishment, and MOM Brands is crucial to that success.”
For the past six years, MOM Brands has welcomed crews from Columbus to do post-production work, like palate display assembly and operation of scanners and forklifts. While ensuring technical requirements are met, MOM Brands supervisors also take time to interact with the employees and encourage them in their employment journey.
According to Knapp, the partnership between MOM Brands and the Columbus Community Center has allowed individuals to learn about jobs in the highly regulated food industry while maintaining the quality standards needed to uphold the MOM Brands mission.
“Our dedication to quality is important to us, as well as to the Columbus Community Center. This partnership is a win-win, as we both value our commitment to the community where we live and work,” said Clyde Campbell, Salt Lake City distribution center manager for MOM Brands. “We appreciate and respect our employees, and this award is shared among all of us.”
