STUDIO CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Busted Buggy Entertainment is thrilled to announce that it has secured the rights to a second project from Writer/Director Cole Mueller. The yet untitled project will be a fast paced crime caper, in the same vein as his first indie feature, Green Guys.
“I think we are going to have another great film working with Cole, and can’t wait to see what he puts together with Courtney (Daniels) in this new script. Both are extremely talented and I think it will be a great fit for our slate.”
Busted Buggy and Mueller partnered earlier this year to produce the helmer’s second feature film, Magic Hour, which starred C. Thomas Howell (The Amazing Spiderman, Southland, The Outsiders), Trevor Morgan (The Diary of Preston Plummer, Brotherhood, The Patriot), and William Russ (American History X, The Right Stuff, Boy Meets World). Also starring in Magic Hour is newcomer Courtney Daniels, who Mueller and BBE are reportedly eyeing for the female lead in the new, untitled caper. “I had a great experience working with Courtney on our last film together, and she is a great fit for this new project,” says Mueller.
The deal for the untitled project was the result of discussions that began just prior to AFM, where the producing partners were actively engaged in talks to secure foreign sales representation and to sell domestic distribution rights. “As those conversations (at AFM) turned greatly positive, it made sense to look toward the next project,” said Dan Cunningham, President of Busted Buggy Entertainment and Executive Producer of Magic Hour. “I think we are going to have another great film working with Cole, and can’t wait to see what he puts together with Courtney (Daniels) in this new script. Both are extremely talented and I think it will be a great fit for our slate.” Cunningham would not give a firm date, but mentioned that he hoped the new project would be ready for preproduction around summer of 2013.
Mueller is currently working on several other scripts in addition to the project acquired by BBE.
In addition to continuing negotiations with distributors for Magic Hour following AFM, Busted Buggy is also developing two, hour-long formats for television, and actively negotiating the acquisition of another screenplay for production next year.
