NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For its commitment to pro bono service, Herrick, Feinstein LLP has been honored by the Lawyers Alliance of New York with a 2012 Cornerstone Award. Since 1997, Lawyers Alliance has presented its Cornerstone Awards annually to individuals and institutions that have made extraordinary contributions through pro bono legal services, helping nonprofits address critical human needs and improve the quality of life for thousands of low-income New Yorkers.

“Providing the highest quality pro bono legal support and guidance for non profit organizations that offer critical services in our communities is a responsibility that Herrick takes very seriously,” said Louis Goldberg, Partner and co-Chair of Herrick's Pro Bono Committee. “Many of our attorneys give their time and energy to these important matters and so we are honored to receive this recognition from Lawyers Alliance.”
Since first joining forces with Lawyers Alliance in 2008, Herrick has steadily and reliably handled an increasing volume of pro bono matters, establishing 25 attorney-client relationships in just four years. Currently, Herrick has 14 legal projects that are active, including 8 new matters since July 2011. Herrick’s pro bono service spans a range of practice areas, including corporate, employment, intellectual property, real estate, and regulatory compliance, supporting the Lawyers Alliance’s mission to provide business and transactional legal services to nonprofit organizations that serve New York City’s low-income communities.
The Lawyers Alliance Cornerstone Award follows on the heels of another pro bono recognition for Herrick. In late October, the City Bar Justice Center presented Ross L. Hirsch, co-Chair of Herrick’s Pro Bono Committee, with a 2012 Jeremy G. Epstein Award for outstanding volunteer work for the Legal Clinic for the Homeless. Mr. Hirsch was commended for the quality and volume of his legal work, his leadership in support of pro bono, his commitment to the clients and willingness to take on challenging assignments.
