WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Susan W. Berson and Hope S. Foster, Members of the Health Law Practice of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., will each present at the Pharmacy Benefit Oversight and Compliance Congress. The conference will take place November 14 and 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ms. Berson, Managing Member of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, will give the introductory Legal Address entitled, “What You Need to Know to Manage Pharmacy Benefits – A Legal Perspective.” Ms. Berson will examine the legal issues associated with pharmacy benefit management and share strategies for operating compliantly.
Ms. Foster, Chair of the firm’s Health Care Enforcement Defense Group, will give a presentation entitled, “Avoid False Claims Violations through Compliant Billing Practices.” In her session, Ms. Foster will discuss the ways in which companies must monitor pricing and billing practices to avoid overpayments.
The 2012 Pharmacy Benefit Oversight and Compliance Congress brings together pharmacy benefit managers and health plans to carefully analyze the regulatory landscape, discuss best practices for compliance and operational excellence, share methods for auditing and monitoring and explore strategies for successful stakeholder oversight.
Ms. Berson focuses on advising private and public health care service providers, including managed care organizations, pharmaceutical services providers, such as PBMs, behavioral health companies, specialty care companies, and integrated delivery systems, often in the context of strategic affiliations and complex service agreements. She has advised some of the nation’s largest government health programs and has negotiated some of the nation’s largest pharmacy service agreements, and also advises on complex mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and network development programs. Ms. Berson also has significant experience assisting venture capital groups and investment banks with investments in the health care industry. In addition to serving as Managing Member of the Washington, D.C. office and Member of the Health Law Practice, Ms. Berson is a member of the firm’s Policy Committee.
Ms. Foster represents health care providers, product manufacturers, payors, and investors. She specializes in statutory and regulatory issues affecting the provision of health care services; her practice includes counseling, structuring and litigating fraud and abuse issues as well as reimbursement matters. Ms. Foster defends and resolves large, multi-faceted federal and state investigations arising under criminal and civil statutes barring, among other things, the submission of false claims and the provision of remuneration to induce referrals. Ms. Foster serves on the firm’s Policy Committee and Pro Bono Committee.
