BLACKFOOT, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bingham Memorial Hospital today announced the successful completion of its bi-annual Shriners' screening clinic Saturday. The clinic is held twice each year at Bingham Memorial Hospital in partnership with Shriners Hospital for Children. Over one hundred children have been selected through the partnership to date. The purpose of the clinic is to offer a free screening for all children with various orthopedic conditions that may be candidates to be treated at Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City at no cost.
“Many of the children that were screened at the clinic would not have had access to appropriate care otherwise. We are so pleased to partner with Shriners each year in bringing this free screening clinic to the families of east Idaho.”
“As a critical access hospital, our purpose is to help provide services that residents would not otherwise be able to receive,” said Louis Kraml, CEO of Bingham Memorial Hospital. “Many of the children that were screened at the clinic would not have had access to appropriate care otherwise. We are so pleased to partner with Shriners each year in bringing this free screening clinic to the families of east Idaho.”
Four children were deemed eligible at Saturday’s clinic for no cost medical care through Shriners Hospital. The next clinic will be held at Bingham Memorial Hospital next spring.
The clinic screened for conditions including:
- Club foot
- Hand or back problems
- Bowed legs
- Myelodysplasia (spina bifida)
- Dislocated hips
- Missing limb
- Problems associated with burns
“Bingham has gone the extra mile for us when no one else in the area would,” said Bill Newbry, El Kora Shrine ambassador. “Their effort to reach out to families and kids in need is fantastic, and it has been a great blessing for the children so they can go on and have a normal life. Even if we only saw one child, it would be worth all of the effort from the Shriners, Bingham Memorial and their kind and generous staff.”
