“We are honored that Omission beers received top honors in the gluten-free beer category at the International Beer & Cider Competition,” said Terry Michaelson, CEO of Craft Brew Alliance and a 12-year celiac. “Omission beers are a reflection of the creativity and determination of our brewers to create flavorful craft beers that everyone of age can enjoy.”
The Great International Beer & Cider Competition was held on Friday, Nov. 2, in Providence, R.I., and included 470 beers and ciders from breweries and cideries across the U.S. and around the world. First-, second- and third-place awards were presented in 44 categories of ales, lagers and ciders. Judging was carried out as a blind tasting. The judges were informed only of the style and subcategory of each beer and cider.
Omission beer is the first craft beer brand in the United States focused exclusively on brewing great tasting beers with traditional ingredients, including malted barley, that are specially crafted to remove gluten. Gluten levels in every batch of Omission beer are measured by the brewery and an independent lab using the R5 Competitive ELISA gluten test to ensure that the beer measures well below the Codex gluten-free standard of 20 ppm or less. The R5 Competitive ELISA is currently the best test available to measure gluten levels in fermented beverages. Test results for every batch of Omission beer are available to consumers at www.omissiontests.com. Omission Lager and Omission Pale Ale are available in 12-ounce bottles at retailers, restaurants and bars throughout the U.S.
