(SMS), a leading provider of IT systems and services to support critical architecture, data, and application challenges in the healthcare industry, today announces its contract award to provide management and technical support services for the Integrated Electronic Health Record (iEHR) initiative.

The contract falls under the Interagency Program Office (IPO), a collaborative effort between Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop and implement the iEHR initiative. These programs will facilitate full information interoperability between departments and improve functionality and efficiency for the DoD and VA combined beneficiary population of more than 18 million patients and 400,000 providers.
Under this contract, SMS will provide a full range of management and strategic planning, technical expertise, hardware/software integration capabilities, deployment, testing, maintenance and documentation services required to execute iEHR. SMS will work collaboratively with the IPO and other third party contractors and vendors to deliver improved health system functionality for individuals and providers.
