ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The SPECTRUM Group (TSG) is pleased to announce retired Army Major General Stephen R. Layfield has recently joined our firm. General Layfield is a key member of TSG’s Army Team and has become one of our Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Team experts. General Layfield comes to us following a distinguished military career in which his last active Army assignment was as Director of the Joint and Coalition Warfighting Center and Director of Joint Training J7.

General Layfield has held several command and senior staff positions. He was Commanding General for the U.S. Army in Alaska, Commander of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, and served as command at the battalion level. He also served as the Operations Officer for V Corps, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Intelligence for NATO’s Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, and Deputy Commander for International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
General Layfield has numerous deployments including: Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan; Operation Joint Guard/Endeavor in Bosnia-Herzegovina; and Task Force Able Sentry in the Republic of Macedonia. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Center for Logistics Management at Albany State University and Mission Readiness, a national security nonprofit organization. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the BRAC process. His military career, with its wide range of responsibilities, command positions and deep international experience brings him a keen knowledge of defense issues involving Army, Joint and NATO training and operations. His service on the staff of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, his role as a flag-level leader in Army Training and Doctrine Command and service as a senior commander on multiple deployments provides significant depth to TSG and our clients.
