USGBC Minnesota to Partner with EnergyPrint to Benchmark LEED Building Performance in More Than 150 Minnesota Buildings

New initiative aims to provide data to support the design, construction and operation of sustainable buildings

MINNEAPOLIS--()--The Minnesota Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-Minnesota) today announced the Performance Metrics Strategic Initiative created to benchmark LEED-certified buildings in Minnesota. Partnering with St. Paul-based EnergyPrint, Inc., the new initiative will collect, report and assess the building performance of more than 150 buildings throughout the state through the reporting and analysis of energy and water use.

“We are proud to partner with USGBC-Minnesota to provide this important building performance benchmarking”

The new initiative will generate a fact-based understanding of LEED-certified building performance, focused on energy and water use, and will identify areas for improvement. Data and insights will be shared with stakeholders to drive continued building sustainability efforts and to further support the business case for green building. The program also aims to shape state and local policies and legislation around sustainable building, and energy and water efficiency.

“This is an important undertaking for our chapter as we continue to better understand the performance of LEED-certified buildings in Minnesota, specifically pertaining to energy and water use,” said Sheri Brezinka, executive director of the chapter. “The initiative will also provide data that supports the design and construction of green buildings.”

EnergyPrint, Inc., a leading provider of energy management software will collect each building’s energy and water use data, analyze it, and generate usable insights. The company will offer a complimentary 90-day subscription for the EnergyPrint energy management dashboard to each building participating in the initiative.

“We are proud to partner with USGBC-Minnesota to provide this important building performance benchmarking,” said Mike Williams, chief operations officer of EnergyPrint. “Together we can use data to build the case that green buildings provide both financial and environmental advantages.”
