Four of AbleNet communications and assistive technologies will be included in the NextGen home, giving conference attendees first-hand experience with the many easy-to-use and affordable accessibility products that enhance independent and functional living for people with disabilities. These innovative products include two SiCare Environmental Control Unit (ECU) models, the Possum Sero! accessible telephone, and the Possum Primo! remote control.

The presentation will be on November 17 from 1–2 p.m. and is titled “Easy-Tech Assistive Technology Solutions for Improved Quality of Life.” In this session, Wing will provide many examples to help professionals, users and families understand how to effectively use switches, easy-tech communication aides and simple environmental control units. Wing is a well-known international speaker and writer in the assistive technology and disability field. He is on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Technology Access (ATA), a 20-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to technology access for all.

SiCare ECU products convert spoken commands into signals that control numerous devices such at televisions, telephones, lights and electric beds. AbleNet offers two different SiCare products based on the level of customization required.
