CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & LOS ALTOS, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Electronic crime responders, investigators and counter-electronic crime technologists will join law enforcement and public policy officials from across the globe in São Paulo this May for the APWG’s Counter-eCrime Operations Summit, uniting thought-leaders worldwide to plan the next stage in the global confrontation against electronic crime.
“Commercial security companies, national governments, international treaty organizations, law enforcement agencies and industry associations the world over are always looking for ways to coordinate their efforts and to share data that are useful for their investigations and for the protection of consumers.”
The fourth annual APWG operations conference (CeCOS IV), to be held on May 11-13 in São Paulo, Brazil will engage questions of the challenges faced by ecrime responders and the development of common resources for the forensic professionals and business managers who protect consumers and enterprises from electronic crime threats every day.
APWG Secretary General Peter Cassidy said, “Commercial security companies, national governments, international treaty organizations, law enforcement agencies and industry associations the world over are always looking for ways to coordinate their efforts and to share data that are useful for their investigations and for the protection of consumers.
“At the annual CeCOS event, those professionals assemble to share their experiences, build their networks of trusted colleagues and to exchange insights from their work in engaging electronic crime,” Mr. Cassidy said.
CeCOS IV will present:
International case studies by ecrime responders and security specialists about electronic crime’s advancement in their nations and regions;
Presentations about technologies and techniques used by electronic crime gangs to exploit Internet infrastructure and user’s PCs and client devices;
Discussions about techniques for educating and protecting consumers;
Presentations about the development of shared resources like common data formats and forensic data sharing mechanisms.

CeCOS IV, the first APWG conference held in South America, is an open conference for members of the electronic-crime fighting community, hosted by the APWG and its Conference Partner CERT.br and sponsored by CGI.br, NIC.br, MarkMonitor, Easy Solutions and S21sec. The CeCOS programs are considered the most vital events to investigators and managers of electronic crime from across private and public sectors.
At previous CeCOS conferences in San Francisco, Tokyo and Barcelona, the APWG has drawn hundreds of delegates from law enforcement agencies, technology companies, financial services firms, security services firms, government agencies, law firms, consumer advocacy groups and research centers from around the globe, bringing together some of the most advanced counter-electronic crime thought leaders from East Asia, South Asia, Europe, South America and North America.
Mr. Cassidy said, “Our success in comprehensively engaging electronic crime is hampered only to the degree to which we are divided. CeCOS conferences have one imperative: to unite the ecrime responder community so that it can better act in concert against the threats that menace enterprises and consumers worldwide. With each conference in a different corner of the globe, the CeCOS conference helps build the community of responders who can share data, insights and local intelligence.”
