Annual Awards From the Anita Borg Institute Honor the Tech Industry’s Most Innovative Women

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Knightscope, developer of advanced physical security technologies focused on significantly enhancing US security operations, announced today that the Anita Borg Institute has named Knightscope Vice President of Software Engineering Mercedes Soria the recipient of the “2017 ABIE Award for Leadership.” The annual recognition recognizes a woman who has “served in a significant leadership role in advancing technology, with a strong focus on increasing women’s representation and success in the field.” An awards ceremony will be held as part of the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, October 4–7, 2017 in Orlando, Florida with an expected 18,000 people in attendance – the largest gathering in the world of women technologists.

Mercedes Soria has a rich history in the technology field with over 15 years of experience. She currently leads the Knightscope team focused on machine learning, artificial intelligence and user-interface applications and aims to increase the number of women working in security and robotics. Earlier this year Mercedes received the 2017 “Silicon Valley Business Journal Woman of Influence Award,” spotlighting the 100 most influential women in Silicon Valley from the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
