CHICAGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP announced today that Simeon Papacostas has joined the firm as a partner in its Chicago office. He will be a member of the firm’s growing Intellectual Property department as well as the Intellectual Property Litigation and Life Science Litigation practice groups.

Honigman’s Intellectual Property department has experienced significant growth in recent years, with nine IP attorneys joining the firm last year. The department now has approximately 55 attorneys practicing in Chicago and Michigan.

Papacostas focuses his practice on patent litigation in federal courts, representing clients in various sectors, including: life sciences, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology; drilling and oilfield services; computer hardware; consumer products; and video games. Additionally, he represents clients for post-grant proceedings before the patent office and advises on patent-related antitrust issues and trademark counseling.

Before joining Honigman, Papacostas was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. In addition to his thriving practice, he was also active in pro bono work, advising small businesses and individuals on trademark and copyright matters, as well as matters involving international human rights violations, immigration law and animal rights.
Papacostas received his J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University.
