Simon Chisholm has advised clients on multiple high-profile UK and EU mergers, vertical agreements, and dominance cases since joining CRA in December 2015. Recent highlights include Phase 1 merger outcomes before the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on Tullett Prebon/ICAP and Cineworld/Empire, and acting for the main intervener in the recent ICE/Trayport prohibition. He has built on his prior experience in the UK Government, in particular at the CMA and before that the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), where he directed the team of economists analyzing UK mergers. In 2015, at the Department for Business, Mr. Chisholm was responsible for directing the economic analysis for UK consumer and competition policy, covering a wide range of issues, including the implementation of the damages directive, geo-blocking, regulation of digital platforms and other Digital Single Market issues, public interest tests in merger control, analysis of competition/intervention in the supply chain, and the Consumer Rights Act. In this position, he was also responsible for UK economic regulation policy and sponsorship of Ofcom (on postal issues) and the UK Regulators Network.
Bharati Mandapati specializes in the economics of competition and regulation with particular expertise in matters involving high technology products. Her signature projects rely on sophisticated data analyses tailored to exploit the growing benefits of large-scale and complex data tracking. She has advised both private and agency clients on a number of high stakes antitrust matters including those related to mergers, attempted monopolization, bundling, tying, exclusionary conduct, and price fixing. She also has experience with a broad range of industries beyond technology, including electronic payment networks, healthcare, gasoline, and consumer products. Recently, Ms. Mandapati led a team of CRA economists who worked with Senior Consultant to CRA, Professor Carl Shapiro, to provide expert economic analyses and testimony to support the Federal Trade Commission in its successful challenge of the $6.3 billion merger between Staples and Office Depot. Ms. Mandapati holds MA degrees from both the University of California, Los Angeles and the Delhi School of Economics, as well as a BA Honors degree in Economics from the University of Delhi.
Matthew Majewski is recognized for providing life sciences clients with analytically based solutions to their strategic issues and has been a key contributor to the growth of CRA’s Life Sciences strategy consulting sector. He has experience leading a range of strategy engagements from pricing and market access to corporate restructuring. Pharmaceutical clients have sought his expertise to understand the attitudes and behaviors of healthcare decision-makers when making choices about utilizing and managing biopharmaceuticals and devices, and he has developed many strong relationships across the industry. Mr. Majewski regularly publishes thought leadership in CRA’s client newsletters. He holds an MBA degree in Pharmaceutical Management, Finance, and Marketing from Rutgers Business School, as well as a BS degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.
