RENNES, France--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--At the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) in Los Angeles, CAILabs will exhibit its solution Aroona for multimode fiber network upgrades at booth #3746. The solution was recognized with a high score in 2017 Lightwave Innovation Reviews Program, and will receive its award at OFC.
“On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate CAILabs for the 3.5 score”
CAILabs, a French start-up dedicated to bringing innovative photonics solution to increase the capacity of optical fibers, will exhibit at OFC, the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, from March 21th to 23th.
During the show, on the booth #3746, CAILabs will showcase the solution Aroona, which was recognized by the 2017 Lightwave Innovation Reviews with a score of 3.5 out of 5 possible points. Aroona enables fiber capacity upgrades in existing networks with multimode fibers. It provides an easy-to-deploy and cost-effective way to dramatically increase the bandwidth of a network, without new fiber deployment. The solution enables several 10 Gb/s channels over existing multimode infrastructures. It is also future-proof and compatible with next-generation transceivers, as will be presented by the Nokia Bell Labs during an oral presentation on Monday March 20th, demonstrating a transmission at 5 Tb/s on 2km of multimode fiber.
Presented annually by Lightwave, the Lightwave Innovation Reviews program distinguishes top products and solutions available within the optical networking industry as determined by a stellar panel of third-party judges. The jury was impressed by the technical characteristics of CAILabs' Aroona product and its performance, which respond to a real market need.
“On behalf of the Lightwave Innovation Reviews, I would like to congratulate CAILabs for the 3.5 score”, said Lightwave Group Publisher Rob Stuehrk. “The judges noted that Aroona is a very innovative solution to address the lack of a standards based upgrade path for legacy installations of multimode fiber.”
“As a start-up, we are truly proud to receive this prestigious award, which rewards the work that CAILabs’ teams provide every day. Our solution Aroona enables enterprises to meet today’s and tomorrow’s bandwidth needs, and we are excited to offer solutions to a wide range of optical networks”, explains Jean-François Morizur, CEO of CAILabs.
With a unique innovation in the world and a strong technological potential, CAILabs has been selected by Business France in February to participate to its program Impact USA, designed to accelerate growth in the USA. Among 17 participants, CAILabs is going to spend 10 weeks in a campus in New York to launch the commercialization of Aroona in the US.
Already recognized by major international telecom players such as Huawei, IBM, Nokia or KDDI, the United States represents a key market for the start-up, ready to invest and accelerate its development in this market.

About the 2017 Lightwave Innovation Reviews
The Lightwave Innovation Reviews is in its fourth year of recognizing and celebrating the industry's most unique products and solutions that help optical communications professionals worldwide drive improvements and innovation in optical technology. Executives at Ciena, Intel, Lumentum, LightCounting Market Research, and Adva were among the third-party judges for the 2017 Innovation Reviews. Criteria used in the Innovation Reviews rankings include, first and foremost, unique technology or application thereof, innovation, ease of use, efficiency, reliability and contribution to profitability.
Founded in June 2013 as a spin-off of Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, CAILabs has developed groundbreaking light shaping technology. The start-up raised 3.6 million euros from, among others, Innovacom, Kima Venture and Starquest Capital seed funds. Since 2014 it has been marketing innovative products used to increase optical fiber capacity. In 2015, the Japanese operator KDDI established the world throughput record over optical fiber using CAILabs components, and in 2016 the Aroona solution for LAN optical fibers won numerous innovation trophies, in particular the Digital In-Pulse prize from Huawei and Cisco Country Digitization Acceleration program.
