AxisPoint Health Names New Chief Medical Officer

Virginia Gurley, MD, MPH, to Lead Clinical Strategy Development and Further Company’s Vision of Personalizing the Care Experience

WESTMINSTER, Colo.--()--AxisPoint Health, a leading provider of care management services to payers and other risk-bearing entities, today announced that Virginia Gurley, MD, MPH, has joined the company as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Gurley’s recruitment reinforces AxisPoint Health’s commitment to offering innovative, analytically-driven care management services that help payer organizations achieve the Triple Aim of healthcare: reducing costs, while improving outcomes and member satisfaction.

Dr. Gurley joins AxisPoint Health with more than 30 years of experience in preventive care, clinical systems design, analytics, and health education. Prior to this role, Dr. Gurley held several leadership positions, including Vice President and Senior Medical Director at Healthways, where she was responsible for advancing the clinical innovation and market strategy for new business models. Her experience also includes senior roles at organizations including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, McKesson Corporation, and Colorado Access, a provider-sponsored managed care company. In these roles, Dr. Gurley served as Medical Director and led program design and clinical requirements for care management, nurse triage, and decision support services.

Dr. Gurley joins AxisPoint Health to fill the role being vacated by Dr. Tim Moore, who is retiring. Drs. Gurley and Moore are working closely together to ensure a smooth transition for AxisPoint Health’s clients and employees. Dr. Moore will continue to support the AxisPoint Health team as a Senior Medical Advisor.
