NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The American Marketing Association New York announced the four industry leaders selected as 2017 inductees to its Marketing Hall of Fame®.
This year’s inductees are Gary Briggs, VP, CMO, Facebook; Jon Iwata, SVP, marketing and communications, IBM; Jim Stengel, former global marketing officer, Procter & Gamble and president/CEO, The Jim Stengel Company; and Jerry Wind, PhD, professor of Marketing, The Wharton School.
The Marketing Hall of Fame (www.marketinghalloffame.org) was established by the AMA New York to celebrate brilliance in marketing, recognizing those who are making outstanding contributions to marketing and inspiring the next generation. Criteria is marketing professionals who have dramatically impacted business results, raised marketing’s profile or moved the profession forward by developing innovative solutions.
Past inductees include author/academic David Aaker, Patagonia’s Yvon Chouinard, GE’s Beth Comstock, Nike’s Trevor Edwards, R/GA’s Bob Greenberg, AmEx’s John Hayes, author/academic Philip Kotler, Ogilvy & Mather’s Shelly Lazarus, strategist/author Al Ries and Subway’s Joseph V. Tripodi.
The selection process began with an open call for nominations, from which a shortlist of 50 was selected by the Marketing Hall of Fame Committee. This shortlist was reviewed by the Marketing Hall of Fame Academy, an invitation-only body of 200 senior marketers, who determined a dozen finalists.
A final Judging Panel of association leaders — David Almy, CEO, Insights Association; Gayle Fuguitt, CEO, Advertising Research Foundation; Nancy Hill, CEO, 4As; Russ Klein, CEO, American Marketing Association; Bob Liodice, CEO, Association of National Advertisers; Manny Schrager, president, Qualitative Research Consultants Association and Earl Taylor, CMO, Marketing Science Institute — picked this year’s inductees.
