FINDLAY, Ohio--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport SUV tire in size 215/65 R16 98H placed in the top two of 15 tires from leading brands in the most recent annual test of summer tires by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil Club (ADAC). The ADAC is a respected testing body in Germany relied upon by many European consumers for guidance on vehicle and tire quality and safety. The Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport is a high-performance SUV tire designed and manufactured by Cooper Tire Europe.
ADAC’s results were published in its magazine as well as in the Austrian Österreichische Automobil Motorrad und Touring Club (OAMTC) and Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) publications, where the Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport earned a “highly recommended” rating.
ADAC described the Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport as a “well-balanced” tire while the TCS praised its low fuel consumption and good wear results. The OAMTC commented that the tire is good in wet and dry conditions.
Designed for medium and large sport utility vehicle (SUV) fitments, the Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport offers outstanding grip (‘A’ grade wet grip) and handling. The Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport was developed with a new asymmetric tread pattern, which is specifically designed to cope with the weight of large SUVs. The tire’s design benefited from input from Cooper brand ambassador and 13-time F1 Grand Prix winner, David Coulthard, who tested development variants of the tire. Coulthard’s feedback provided direction for the final construction and compound.
Large circumferential grooves in the tread clear water quickly and efficiently from the contact patch to reduce the risk of hydroplaning, while a large central rib increases feel and driving response of the tire. Using a new algorithm, the tire’s tread blocks are split into different sizes to reduce harmonic noise. The edges of the individual tread blocks are also chamfered to help eliminate uneven wear and to reduce contact noise on the road.
Introduced as part of Cooper Tire Europe’s high performance product range, the tread pattern of the Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport features 3D sipes, which have interlocking three-dimensional points inside the sipe. These 3D sipes provide the same benefits of a traditional sipe, including helping the tire warm up and providing enhanced wet grip, but they limit the amount of flex in the tread block. This helps control the amount of heat generated in dry conditions and keeps the tread block stable.
