--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC):
What: Live, action-packed, hands-on competition in 13 trades including welding, electrical and carpentry vying for gold, silver and bronze medals and safety awards in each category. In addition, the exhibit hall will feature demonstrations, local construction leaders and representatives from industry stakeholders from across the country.
Who: Nearly 170 top construction apprentices and trainees from 28 states vetted through local/state competitions will compete in the 30th edition of Associated Builders and Contractors’ National Craft Championships. Interviews with competitors and ABC officials are available.
Where: Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 33316
Why: The construction industry faces a shortage of 1.1 million skilled workers over the next decade, the National Craft Championships are a part of ABC’s effort to raise the profile of careers in construction and highlight the $1.1 billion ABC member companies spend annually on workforce development.
