SALT LAKE CITY--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Check City today announced the results of its successful partnership with Souper Bowl of Caring to raise cash donations for Utah Food Bank. The donations aided in supporting programs like Kids Café and the Mobile Food Pantry.
Check City customers and local residents collectively donated over $5,525 in cash. Check City matched the cash donations and will deliver an $11,050 check to the food bank. For every $1 donated, Utah Food Bank is able to turn that into $7.81 in goods and services; with the Check City donation, $86,300 in goods and services will benefit the food bank and Utah residents.
“We believe in Utah Food Bank’s mission to fight hunger statewide and are thankful to all those who donated to the Check City - Souper Bowl of Caring charity drive. I am proud of our employees for giving their time and our customers for donating money to make this drive a resounding success,” said Check City President Tracy Rawle.
Check City’s continued support of Utah Food Bank over the years has provided $30,400 in donations and hundreds of volunteer hours. Check City recognizes the importance of the various distribution programs, specifically child hunger programs, offered by Utah Food Bank and will continue to provide volunteers for their Mobile Food Pantry to aid in distribution to underserved areas and schools.
In Utah 423,000 residents, or one in seven Utahns, are at risk of missing a meal each day. Even more alarming is that one in five Utah kids are unsure where their next meal is coming from. To aid in reducing hunger in our communities Utah Food Bank distributed over 38.1 million pounds of food last year, the equivalent of over 31 million meals, to people facing hunger across the state.
