With more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Elford was a perfect selection for the position. She has over 30 years of experience at the executive level and has also successfully owned consulting companies, where she provided contract management, turnaround operations, medical staff relations/credentialing, quality and regulatory expertise.

Elford served on the Board of the Dallas Fort Worth Hospital Council for nine years and was elected Board Chairman in 2006, she was the first female to serve on the board in 30 years. The Hospital Council represents over 70+ hospitals in the North Texas region.
