The report cites 50 examples of wasteful government spending costing taxpayers more than $5 billion, such as $1.4 billion on government public relations, $200 million for an Illinois airport that barely functions, an $80.4 million “spaceport to nowhere,” a $1.7 million holographic comedy club, $21.8 million on government cheese, $3.4 million on hamster cage matches, and studies on the romantic allure of the color red, why sharks have a bad reputation, the evolution of saliva, how religious leaders would react to aliens arriving on Earth, could dinosaurs sing, and of course, another study of fish on a treadmill.

Flake’s reports are crucial weapons in the war on waste.”
