SEATTLE & LOS ANGELES--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Spiraloid Workshop Co. (Spiraloid), brainchild of acclaimed creator Bay Raitt who's well known for his work at Valve Corporation (Valve) and as creature facial lead for WETA Digital on the Lord of the Rings movies today announced the upcoming release of their first virtual reality (VR) holographic novel (immersive comic) for Oculus Rift and optimized for Touch.

Nanite FulcrumTM is a first-of-its kind fully immersive VR comic based on an original screenplay from Raitt and Spiraloid. The title is built with the company's VR Comic Platform, a proprietary set of middleware and tools leveraging Unity 3D, Maya, ZBrush and other popular production tools to enable IP holders and a community of creators to build fantastic VR experiences around franchise IP.

Raitt created more than 50 short films for Valve properties including Team Fortress, Portal and Half Life. He also developed the Source Filmmaker real-time production tool and its’ massive community online. He created Gollum’s facial system for the “Lord of the Rings” movies as well as the creature pipeline at WETA Digital.
Raitt’s first job was coloring Spawn and Akira before going on to play key roles at Protozoa then Nichimen Graphics where he and Spiraloid Co-Founder Brendan Kavanagh led the team that built and launched both Mirai and Nendo. Nanite Fulcrum Issue 1 is slated to release on Oculus Rift and Samsung GearVR on February 14, 2017 and is a love letter to comics, games pop culture and technology. The Spiraloid VR Platform will be made available to content partners and a community of creators in the second half of 2017.
